Fabrics with elastane – where are they used?
Let’s start with what are the fabrics that have elastane, because it’s not as obvious as with cotton or polyester. Elastane is a synthetic material made of special fibers that are eighty-five percent made up of rubber. Some people are familiar with the word “lycra”. It is worth emphasizing, however, that it is one of the components of elastane, but not the only one. Some people also call spandex elastane. Initially, when this artificial material was invented, it was intended to be used in the army as rubber. Eventually, the novelties from the military passed to the civilian world and thus became a part of our daily lives.
In the world of clothing, elastane is there so that the garment can stretch, change forms and shapes. In addition, it is a soft and pleasant to the touch material. That is why it is so beloved by women, but also by all athletes.
Cotton or elastane?
Many people ask themselves which is better – natural cotton or artificial elastane. In fact, there is no one right answer to this, because the arguments for both materials are different. It is worth knowing, however, that the purpose of cotton should rather be directed towards everyday activities, as well as office and intellectual work. Elastane, on the other hand, is more suitable for athletes and all those who are constantly on the move during the day. Especially since this material does not restrict movement in any way.
